200 Dishub Personnel Deployed in Tanah Abang

Today, Jakarta Provincial Government starts to implement arrangement program in Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta. For this short-term program, Jakarta Transportation Dept. (Dishub) deploys 200 personnel.

based on Beritajakarta monitoring, east side of Jalan Jati Baru Raya is used as selling place for 400 street vendors (PKL)s. While on the west side is used for mobility of Transjakarta bus which gives free service called Tanah Abang Explorer.

Jakarta Dishub Head, Andry Yansyah mentioned, traffic engineering in Tanah Abang has started since 8 AM. Dishub personnel are deployed to monitor the road, help road users, and manage traffic in 17 Tanah Abang intersection points.

"Vehicles other than Transjakarta bus are not allowed to go through Jalan Jati Baru Raya," he informed, Friday (12/22).

Central Jakarta Mayor, Mangara Pardede hopes this arrangement will be the best solution for PKLs and people in Tanah Abang.

"We want Tanah Abang to be in order, comfortable, and safe," he expressed.

Meanwhile, Rafael Athar (30), a public transport user expressed that current arrangement gives comfort for pedestrian.

"Almost everyday I pass this way, but I see it more in order now," he said.

For information, Tanah Abang long-term arrangement program will be done with Transit Oriented Development (TOD) concept. This concept will be done by extending Light Rail Transit (LRT) from Dukuh Atas to Tanah Abang.
